Hullo, flist.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

My weekend was fun. Charles came to visit. We did the usual stuff we do together: play video games, watch TV and movies, and the last couple episodes of Supernatural (he doesn't have cable at his place, so he watches them on his laptop.

In addition to the usual brain-numbing activities we usually do, we also got outside a couple times. It was beautiful here this weekend, warm and sunny. On Saturday, we drove to the park and walked along the bike path a little way, then out onto the soccer field, where we threw Summer's ball for her. We had left the water in the car, so by the time we headed back (after laying on the grass for a while) she was tired and thirsty and a little mutinous. We were about 15 feet from the car before she said, "FUCK ALL Y'ALL" and laid down in the grass, so I brought her the water and let her rest a couple minutes.

That afternoon, while I was doing homework, I heard tinkling bell sounds outside. Summer started walking around, looking at me, sniffing under the door, and whimpering. I looked out the window and saw my neighbor Christina on the sidewalk, playing with her two ferrets. They were wearing harnesses, and one harness has bells on it, thus the noise.

Summer's met the ferrets before but she's pretty fascinated with them so we all went out to say hi. We sat outside with Christina for a while in the sun and pet the ferrets.

Ferrets stink!

Then yesterday, Christina came over with her ferrets AND a baby, the daughter of one of her coworkers. She asked if we wanted to go for a walk. I declined, because I was trying to do homework.

About ten minutes later, I decided that a walk actually sounded pretty nice, so I knocked on her door and we all piled in the car and went back to the park. It was about 70 degrees yesterday, so we spread a couple blankets in some shade and took off our shoes and just sat there for a while. Charley threw the ball for Sum while Christina and I played with the baby, who was happy and gurgly and so chubby.

After we returned to the apartment and the baby had a nap, Christina brought her over again for a while.

Then Charley and I got ready to go. I took him all the way into Portland yesterday because I had been invited over to my friend Cam's house.

In high school, we were the drama kids, and most of my guy friends (Cam especially) were fascinated with making movies. As a result, I had the chance in high school to be in several movies (for classes, mostly). Yesterday, Cam, Rob, Ian and I (all high school friends with whom I only recently reconnected) did some commentaries on those movies at Cam's house. It may sound a little silly but it was really fun. I didn't even remember participating in some of them, but as we watched the film, more and more of it came back to me.

My biggest role was as Pearl in The Scarlet Letter that we did for sophomore(?) English. I was...not a great actor. To say the least. But it was fun to see all that again, see people in the background that I haven't seen in a decade. And it was nice to hang out with the guys again.

If anyone is interested, my friends' film websites are:

Ouchmouth's YouTube account
a3o

I don't think any of the movies I was involved in are available on these sites, though you can see me briefly at the beginning of the following trailer for "Ungodly Brain of Doom." I'm in a blue sweatshirt, sleeping on a desk.

The guys haven't been making many movies lately, but I hope when they start up again they'll give me a call, because we really had a great time in high school.

If you decide to look through their websites (CAMP AND GORE IS THEIR THING), have fun. Some of the audio tracks have been removed from the YouTube account for copyright reasons (oops!). I recommend "Pitch" on a3o (it's the only one I've watched on there so far) and "A Time Visitor's Guide" on the Ouchmouth account.

So, I was sent on a treasure hunt today. I came into the office (I'm the only one who works on Saturdays) and immediately saw the crepe paper and balloons decorating the AM studio. Sarah came in about a half hour later and told me I was going on a hunt (authorized by the Big Boss), and told me my first clue.

I should say that my mom's gift to me this year is a trip to Maui, and my boss and coworkers know it.

It sent me to a local store (my boss's husband is the owner) where I gave my name at the counter and came away with a Life Is Good shoulderbag. There was another clue inside. I came back to the office and found a disposable camera, a bottle of sunblock, gum and mints, chapstick, a deck of cards, magazines and a sudoku book, a lei, a plastic tiara, and an invitation to my boss's daughter's 5th birthday party today.

In order to gain entrance to the Princess party, I must wear the princess tiara.

And let me tell you, I look damn sexy in it. The pink gems, as well as the picture of Arial and Cinderella really make me look like Queen of the World.

I love the people I work with. :)

So. Back from Anchorage.

OMG SO MUCH FUN!

It started out with [livejournal.com profile] getting_weary saying a couple weeks ago that she was thinking of going to Anchorage to get her hair cut and would I like to go with her?

Sure, said I, for I needed a haircut as well.

After much planning and re-planning and rehashing and gnashing of teeth, which I will spare you because it is long and complicated, yesterday morning at about 7:15, she came to pick me up at my house and we drove to Anchorage, arriving at around 12:30 Holy run-on sentence, Batman.

We checked into the hotel, which is right across from one of the malls. We shopped. I bought a shirt and a CD and shoes. We took a break and went back to the hotel and rented a movie on the in-room movie service (The Devil Wears Prada). She then took me out to dinner (Mexican, right across from the hotel) and got pleasantly buzzed (me, on a mango margarita and she on a daquiri). We then headed over to Walmart for some "drunken shopping." I got a new purse (as the clasp on my other one is broken), an eyelash curler (shut up), a DVD, and a toy for Summer. Then we got back to the hotel (and the comfy, comfy, ohsocomfy hotel beds--no, really, I'm serious) and went to bed.

Woke up this morning around 8 and kicked around the room for a bit, got some continental breakfast, and then headed across the street to Petco (more to kill time than anything else, as the liquor store next door didn't open till 10) and had a wonderful time looking at the ferrets and birds and fish and cats and hamsters and orangutans, and sloths, and breakfast cereals and frogs and stuff. There was one lunatic little dwarf hamster whose tiny hamster mind had obviously snapped, because his entire hamster day consisted of this:

HAMSTER: *runs to food dish, leaps inside, runs to house, runs to exercise wheel*

EXERCISE WHEEL: SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY

HAMSTER: *catapults himself from wheel, runs to food dish, leaps inside, runs to house, runs to exercise wheel*

EXERCISE WHEEL: SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY SQUEAKY

HAMSTER: *catapults himself from wheel, runs to food dish, leaps inside, runs to house, runs to exercise wheel*

EXERCISE WHEEL: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. SQUEAKY SQUEAKY...

US: Okayyyy...movin' on.

We went to the liquor store (a Mecca, as [livejournal.com profile] getting_weary called it, and she was right) and she picked up some wine for her mom and I got some pomegranate liqueur for my mom, as today is her 29th birthday, and then we headed to the other mall.

We spent sometime trying to find a hair salon that would do our haircuts simultaneously, as we were one a bit of a schedule, but all the salons had only one stylist available, so I went to one salon and she went to the other. Our haircuts got done at about the same time, and, I might add, we look FABULOUS.

And then we shopped some more, and I got some more tops and a pair of jeans that actually FITS. And then we ate lunch at Red Robin and drove home. Got here around 7:30.

And here I am.

And it is good.

And I'm a little nervous because I start my new job tomorrow so I'm a little worried that they won't like me and hiring me was a mistake and I'll flub something up or burn down a building but it's okay I'm good I'm fine I'm okay no problem man I'm fine.
