Nina just left. She came out around 3 so we could play with her new bow and arrows. It's a power-draw bow, and it's pretty nice. We set up her target in the driveway and shot arrows at it for a while. I managed to smack my arm with the string so many times I lost count, and now have a nice welt on my left arm that matches the coffee pot burn I have on my right. We lost one of the arrows in the brush for a while, but finally found it again.

It was fun. I haven't shot a bow since high school.

Now you have to come out to my house and we can shoot at the styrofoam shark the mel (mom's mel) made for me and get tips from george (the neighbor, ex-bow hunter). But i guess the first thing to do is figure out some how to protect your forarm..unless you can live with the welts

Don't archers usually wear leather arm braces to protect them against this sort of thing?

Cardboard might work a bit better, unless you want to use lots of paper towel. And it's free, if you eat cereal!

For me, the bowstring always manages to find the bit the brace isn't covering :(
