Jan. 2nd, 2005 11:43 amWell, it was odd. Yesterday I was online, everything's going good, then I got off so my roommate could use it, then she got off and we left the comp alone for a bit. We have DSL, so we usually leave it online, just close down the windows. But then we tried to get back on, and it wouldn't let us. We kept getting an error message: SBC Yahoo! has encountered a problem and must shut down. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The rest of the comp worked fine, we just couldn't get online. So I called Yahoo today and the guy told me to try explorer, which still lurks in the backmost brain of my computer, and it worked. So we have internet again, but it doesn't have our bookmarks that we have recently added, and it keeps highlighting things and adding links. For example, I was reading someone's LJ and she was talking about work and payment and whenever she said the words 'cash,' 'credit,' or 'check,' IT WAS HIGHLIGHTED WITH A LINK ADDED. WTF.
Bloody annoying if you ask me. Anyway, I can call Yahoo back and have them talk me through an uninstall, reinstall, but I'd like to avoid that because I HATEHATEHATE dealing with computer stuff. It makes me very apprehensive. I don't know if that's pathetic or just silly, probably a little of both. Huh. Well, Happy New Year and all that stuff. I think we still have champagne. Hmm.

Okay. No champagne. BE THAT WAY.

Date: 2005-01-02 11:48 pm (UTC)The only program that looked suspicious told me that to delete it I would have to "download and run this program" and gave me a link. I was like, "I don't think so, biznitch." So next time I get to a Radioshack or something I'll see if I can buy some kind of virus program.
