Heh. I see what you're doing.

She just has major attitude. She's in 6th grade and kind of has that "I NEED ATTENTION" vibe. She tries to make the other kids laugh by being loud and silly, and when I tell her, for example, that she needs to settle down and do what she's there to do, she says no, or she'll settle down for a bit but then go back to being obnoxious. She's also a bit of a bully, she interrupts, she touches things that aren't hers, takes people's things (she was trying on Sammy's shoes and refused to give them back until I intervened), etc.

No teacher comes to Kids Club, and it's not a mandatory thing. None of those kids have to be there for credits for anything. It's only one afternoon a month. We've told them that if they don't want to be there, to read scripts, they don't have to come and we won't think less of them. We're not affiliated with the school in any way.

I do have the authority to kick a kid out - say "That's it, you're out of here. Don't come back until you're ready to take this seriously." but that could turn out to be a mood dampener for the rest of the kids, and really I don't want to have to do something like that. She wasn't really THAT bad yesterday, I guess, so I gave her a gold star. The thing that makes me think she's doing it for attention is that she said, "I get a star? But I was naughty." I said, "You're right. Do you think you don't deserve a star?" And she sort of dithered and went to put the star on her chart.

*shrug* I guess I should be harder on her, but I really am not good at that sort of thing. :) Love you, pookie.
