I have made a lovely meat and veggie lasagna and now have a blackberry-peach pie in the oven. I have flour smudged on my nose, five jillion dishes fermenting in the sink, and I'm wearing an apron. God I love the holidays.

EDIT: GODAMMIT, BURNED THE GORRAM PIE.

BECAUSE I'M A FECKIN MORON THAT'S WHY.

I knew the broiler needed to be monitored constantly. So WHY did I walk away and LEAVE it for 3 minutes?? Stupid stupid stupid. *glares*

YAY my mom and brother are home. They got here around 11. Last night, they left Anchorage at around 11 pm. They stopped 2 hours away from home in Glenallen at 3 am.

Mom: Oh, they didn't just put plain ol' mints on the pillows. Because it was Glenallen, they gave us TESTAMINTS!

They are the square ones in the opaque wrappers. They have little crosses on them. Another site I looked at said something about stopping us from eating "those worldly Altoids," but I'm hoping that was a satire. Please God let it have been satire.

A 22-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexual assault charges filed after he impregnated and then married a 14-year-old girl, and he could face up to 50 years in prison.

This upsets me. I mean, yes. She was 14 and that's statutory rape. But he could be facing 50 years in prison for getting a young girl pregnant and then marrying her, which is perfectly legal in the state where it actually happened. And her folks gave their permission! Now, like I've said, I don't approve of people having sex or getting married so young, but he could get that long in prison when murderers and violent rapists can get out in 2 years. This does not make sense to me.
