Well...I want to be an entertainment lawyer, and I have the most experience in consumer protection law, but for now I'm kinda just looking for someone who has a job opening somewhere near where Dave will be next year so I can go up to them, hug them by the knees, and say, "PLEASE HIRE ME PLEEEEEASE!"

And what do entertainment law and consumer protection law entail? Like, is entertainment law making sure music artists have copyrights on their CDs? I know that's probably a really dumb question, but I'm drawing a blank.

Entertainment law is broad - it could be working for the big name companies like RIAA etc., or it could be representing artists in contract negotiations, or maybe clearing copyrights/trademarks before using them in movies, or enforcing artist rights (like copyright), or any number of things. The part I am most interested in is negotiating contracts for artists and possibly copyright enforcement. But it is REALLY hard to break into.

Consumer protection law has to do with consumer fraud, particularly in the areas of credit reporting and transactional stuff. It deals with statutes like the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Truth in Lending Act. I did a lot with it at work while in law school.

And there's no way you could have been expected to know all that. :)
