Today was the first Meares trip of the season. That means the trip is 9 and a half hours instead of 6 and a half. It went well. No whales, but saw some porpoise.

One of the girls I work with used some of her free passes today and had her boyfriend, a couple of his friends, and her brother on the trip. Her brother is someone I graduated with. While it was nice to see him again (after 6 years) I always feel uneasy when I see someone I knew in high school and haven't seen since. It's like I have a vague feeling that they're saying, "Oh, hi Nelli!" and then as soon as I leave they turn to their friends and say, "DAMN, she's put on some weight!" or something like that. I also know that most of the people I graduated with couldn't care less about me, so that makes that vague feeling all the more asinine, but I can't help it.

I am crew chiefing tomorrow on the short trip with two brothers who look so much alike I can't tell them apart. I worked with one today, and one was the newbie I worked with yesterday.

I don't think it's a good thing that I look exactly the same as I did in high school. I seem to recall I didn't have a boyfriend back then, either. ;P And in this case, the ponytail is just because I was at work and that's really the only conceivable way to wear my hair.

And see, the thing is, I KNOW Rik wouldn't care, and I KNOW he's a nice guy, but I still have those thoughts and fears anyway. Because I'm a spaz, no doubt.
