Stole this from [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe. It could be this is an exercise in futility since most of you already know what I look like. *shrugs* But if you feel like giving it a shot, go ahead.

It's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:
1) The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role or character or just the person.
2) Post a picture.

And like [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe, I don't really care if you go for someone in the movies or just think I look like your next door neighbor, or a picture of someone you saw on Google. For her, I went to Corbis image search and just looked at random images of blond people until I found one that looked as I imagine her. But then, I have no idea what she looks like in real life anyway.

As usual, End of Year meme. Looks remarkably like it has every other year. Screw change!

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Is it bad that I can't think of anything? I mean, I moved to Oregon, but I've lived here before. I lived alone (except for Summer) but I've been living alone for a couple years now. I left a great job without any prospects for another job. Done that before, too. Drove through Canada with all my crap in my car...done that.

OH AHA! I KNOW. I made pizza entirely from scratch.

Well, the sauce was from a can, and all the accoutrements were storebought. BUT THE CRUST WAS FROM SCRATCH!

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't do resolutions anymore. I never stick to them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My friend Mel had another kid, a daughter this time, in February. And my friend Jessica and her husband had their first child this summer, a boy named Erik.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, luckily. But a guy I knew from high school died in an avalanche, which was sad.

5. What countries did you visit?

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

7. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched your memory, and why?
October was the Month of the Move, and also the Month of Summer's Heinous Injury.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I guess it was deciding to move and then actually doing it. It's really scary to move somewhere you've never been, where you don't have a built-in support system. My brother is nearby but it's still a couple hour drive on a good day to see him.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I haven't found a job here yet. To be fair, I haven't REALLY been looking that hard, but that needs to change.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A couple weeks ago I burnt my arm pretty badly on the oven door. It doesn't hurt anymore, but it's peeling and itching and looks really gross, like tiny tectonic plates.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought several things this year; iPod, digital camera, and a Wii! If I cave when I go to Walmart later, a laptop might be added to that list! Of course, if I wait until tomorrow to go to Walmart, I could put laptop as my answer for next year. I guess we'll see!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Summer was a brave trooper when she got injured. And now she's back and just as fine as ever, so I'd say that merits a lot of celebration!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I was sad when California passed Prop 8.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, rent, MOVING.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Moving to Oregon (also nervous. Did I mention nervous?).

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
"Carry On, Wayward Son."

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder?

About the same, probably. I'll be happier once I find a job I like and start making friends. Last year around this time, I had been thinking about moving for a couple months and I was in a state of indecision.

II. thinner or fatter?
About the same, maybe a tad larger. I haven't been exercising but I've been trying to eat better.

III. richer or poorer?
Poorer, definitely.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
This remains the same every year: drawing, painting, exercising.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
This also remains the same: procrastinating.

20. Any new hobbies/interests?
I've been collecting beads and beading supplies but haven't really gotten around to doing anything with them.

21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
I'll be here with Summer tonight, but tomorrow I'm driving to Portland to hang out with some friends from high school (and possibly I'll meet some new people), so that should be fun.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?

23. How many one-night stands?
Zip. This should surprise none of you.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural. I'm getting more and more obsessed, it seems. Also, NCIS and Ugly Betty.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone. There are some people I don't LIKE, and who I want to stay away from, but no hate. Not at the moment, at least.

26. What was the best book you read?
I've really enjoyed A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. (In an interesting aside, I went to school with a Bill Bryson, and his dad, also named Bill, was a vice principal. Neither of them wrote this book, however).

27. What was/were your greatest musical discoveries?
I don't know. I never know how to answer this!

28. What did you want and get?
A working oven.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't know that I've seen many movies that came out this year. I only saw one in the theater, and that was The Day the Earth Stood Still, which will not make my top ten.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 27 and Becky and James bought me drinks at the Elks. Very quiet and low-key.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Finding a great job as soon as I moved to Oregon. I'm beginning to think Mac wasn't the best place to move. Don't get me wrong, it's really nice here and I like it a lot, but there aren't a whole lot of jobs to choose from. Someplace closer to Portland may have been better. On the other hand, Mac is prettier than Portland, and no doubt safer, so there is that.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?

34. What kept you sane?
My family, my friends, my dog, and the quest for self-confidence.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jensen Ackles. Well, REALLY, Dean Winchester, but he's not real, so Ackles it is.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
If ONE MORE PERSON asks me, "Oh, you're from Alaska? What do you think about Sarah Palin?" I will go FREAKING INSANE.

37. Who did you miss?
Everyone who's not with me. Which, at the moment, is everyone except my dog. I love my dog.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I've only met a few people here, and they're more acquaintances than anything else. I started talking to my brother's girlfriend, who lives in California, and I'll get to meet her in January, so that'll be my answer. (Hi, Sofia!)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Go for it, no matter what. /MEGACHEESE

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
LAME. I never know what to say for this one, so I'm leaving you now.
kokopellinelli: (Winter Daydreaming)
A. People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.

B. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

01. What are your nicknames?
Nell, Nellbell, Neeners, Beeg Seester (my brother's the only one who calls me that). Nell is the most common one. Oddly, almost no one calls me Kokopellinelli, save my friend Jen and her mom back home. I've also had a couple nicknames that I've (thankfully) outgrown, including Monkeybutt and Mudpuddle.

02. How do you style your hair?
Ha. What is this 'style' you speak of? I wash my hair at night, and let it dry in my sleep. If it's too unruly the next day (sticking up like a cockscomb) I might run my straightener through the worst of it. That's it.

03. What's new in your life right now?
Well, moving from Alaska to Oregon is certainly new. Not being gainfully employed for the first time in a couple years. Not being around my mom and all my friends. My nearest friends here are my brother and a couple people I knew in high school, but they're about 30 miles away. 30 miles that, oddly, take an hour and a half to drive.

04. How many colours are you wearing now?
I'm in my pajamajams (it's Saturday!) which are green with white scottie dogs wearing red and black checked scarves, and on my top half there's a blue tank top and a blue sweatshirt. So, green, blue, white, red, black. Five colors. FIVE! AH AH AH. /The Count

05. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Introvert. People often seem surprised by that, but it's true. I get comfortable with people fairly easily, but the initial meeting period is nerve-wracking for me.

06. What was the last book you read?
Under the Boardwalk. Silly little romance stories from multiple authors. I've been reading a lot lately, there's not much else to do.

07. Do you nap a lot?
I don't nap, but I have been sleeping later than I normally would.

08. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
I got this meme from [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, and I have to agree with her answer for this. There is no option other than let it go and move on. Any guy who would do something with someone other than the person he's in a relationship with is a turn off. (This is, of course, a moot point when discussing the polyamorous, but that's not a lifestyle that appeals to me personally.) Anyway, I'm not "the other woman" material.

09. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Being jobless and friendless so far from home (I understand that I still have friends, lots of them, but it's hard to not be able to see them whenever I want).

10. What's your favorite dessert?
I have to pick one? I...don't know. Brownies, ice cream, pie, pudding, I like them all. Bring 'em on!

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
10 minutes, maybe. If I'm going outside and decide to bother with makeup.

12. What websites do you visit daily?
LJ, hotmail/gmail, Deviantart, Yahoo News

13. What classes are you taking right now? And if you're not in school any more, what's your job?
SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP. *pouts in a corner*

14. Do you like to clean?
Pffft. No. I have to psych myself up to do any sort of cleaning at all, and more often than not I stop before it gets done. I was a Merry Maid at one point in my life and it sucked. I didn't like cleaning before that experience, I really don't like it now.

15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Deck the Halls, I think. It's only been playing in every single store I've gone to in the past month.

16. What's the last movie you saw?
I watched Titan AE a few nights ago for the first time in ages.

17. What's better: eternal love or memorable love?
I don't know how to answer this.

18. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do everyday?
Look for a job.

19. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie. The. Best.

20. What are you most looking forward to in the coming month?
Finding a job. Spending more time with my brother. Christmas, I guess, though it'll be hard not spending it with our mom. This will be the first time IN OUR LIVES Charley and I won't be with mom for Christmas. That's kind of hard to wrap my brain around.

You Are A: Duckling!

DucklingThe cutest of the cute, these baby ducks are often spotted in the spring following closely behind their mother. As a duckling you will grow up quickly, becoming one of the adult ducks seen commonly in ponds and streams. Playful and timid, charming and vulnerable, ducklings are nature's very definition of innocence.

You were almost a: Lamb or a Bunny
You are least like a: Mouse or a KittenWhat Cute Animal Are You?

Post the first sentence from the first entry of each month.

January: Happy 2008, all.

February: Seems like it's been a while since I posted.

March: I am alive!

April: http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/wildlife/moose/story/366454.html (This was a link to a news article in which Buzzwinkle the Anchorage-dwelling moose died at the ripe old age of 13.)

May: I just got home after spending 3 days at Becky and James's while they were in Anchorage.

June: A couple more photos...just a rose given to me by [livejournal.com profile] getting_weary.

July: I was going to make a post yesterday about having a bear in my yard, but my internet has not been working.

August: In the summers, we do something called the Valdez Fishing Report at work.

September: EDIT: Sorry. Duh.

October: Becky and I had made plans to get together for dinner last night and then meet up with the girls for a few drinks.

November: I've not been in much of a position to read people's journals of late...I don't know what's happening with all of you!

December: My dog has fleas.

I need to work on updating more and thinking up better first lines to my posts. That is all.

The Clotheshorse Meme. Or something.

Okay, fine. I've seen this meme around so I'll give it a try. Baaa.

If you saw ME in a police car, what would you think I got arrested for? Answer me, then post to your own journal and see how many crimes you get accused of.

EDIT: Sorry. Duh.

It's the "Here are the answers, but what are the questions?" meme! Respond if you want to know the questions to the following answers, and then you must in turn post answers in your own journal and make others wonder what the questions are. I stole this one from [livejournal.com profile] chaosvizier.

I rarely do memes or quizzes anymore, but Emily did this one and I was curious.

Your result for The Supervillain Archetype Test...

The Professional

Cool, Levelheaded, Lethal

The Professional is the most dangerous of all villains. You do what you do better than anyone, because, as a Professional, you have standards.

The Professional is like the Crook in that they both desire money. But the Professional wants more than that. The Professional wants job satisfaction. It isn't sadism really, he just wants to be sure that the job is done, and done well. No hard feelings, it's just business. Professionals prefer to work alone, but will work in groups if given incentive.

The greatest weakness of a Professional is risk. A Professional is business-like, but can't resist a challenge. They often use the word "worthy opponent". People like that are easily baited. And if a Professional is eventually cornered (not easy to do), they might lose it.

Sample Professionals: Deathstroke, Bullseye, Revanche

Oooh, I'm rather frightening. Go me!

Dad uses stun gun on baby (this was a link to an article)

I didn't tell anyone, but a few weeks ago I got really drunk at the bar while playing pool with some friends. ...APRIL FOOLS!

1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times. Meeeeemeymeme.

I just had to remove two of THESE from my window. *shudders*

Mom and Chaz and I went out on the boat yesterday.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR THE NELLINEWS dee dee deepadee dee de-dee dee In tonight's news, I seem to have misplaced my pants...

Last night I had nightmare. It didn't start out as one.

Mom and I got back from Maui this evening.

I'm back.

So last night, I went to bed at about 10 and read for a while.

And there you have it, proof once again that I lead an extremely SCINTILLATING life.

If someone says, "Is this okay?" You say?

Kiss from a Rose - Seal (I make out with my friends all the time. HAWT.)

Stolen from Moogle Girl.

So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
s.6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool... and a lot of the songs fit with the setting

Opening Credits:
My Deja Vu by Ace of Base (so the movie of my life will be...wait, I'm already lost. Will I have to get naked in this movie?)

Waking Up:
Going Under by Evanescence (already not a good start).

First Day At School:
Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag, sung by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger in Chicago (so I'ma gonna sleep with a bunch of guys in school?)

Falling In Love:
Hedigean's Fancy from Celtic Quest. (A sprightly fiddle tune. This clearly means I'll fall in love in Scotland. Things are looking up!)

Fight Song:
No Big Thing by Lit. (I can see myself breaking a few pool cues over someone's head to this song. Though it might be better for a breaking up song.)

Breaking Up:
Ready for the Good Times by Shakira (Oh, honey. Aren't we all?)

Prom night:
I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You by Marc Antony and Tina Arena in The Mask of Zorro (okay, maybe moving a little fast for prom night, but hey, what can I say? I must be irresistible).

Oh Father by Madonna (my movie is about abuse, apparently. It's a Lifetime movie).

Mental Breakdown:
Celebration (a very happy, smiley, upbeat instrumental. So I'll be one of those happy, smiley, upbeat crazy people).

Young and Proud by Ace of Base (for driving when I'm angry...? Or something...?)

Crazy for You by Madonna (for all your depressing flashback needs, when you're an old crazy drunk, remembering way back in the day when you were desirable and people actually wanted to have sex with you...)

Getting back together:
The Cat from The Last Unicorn. (I just don't know with this one.)

Happy by Lit (Yay!)

Birth of Child:
Edge of Heaven by Ace of Base (giving birth is a transcendent experience, clearly. Or maybe I nearly die...)

Final Battle:
Lucky Love by Ace of Base (weakest. battle song. EVER. I'll be fighting like I'm Sailor Moon - "HAPPY SPARKLE PUPPY SPIN ATTACK! **tinkle tinkle tinkle!**)

Funeral Song:
Breton Tune from Celtic Quest. (There's thunder in the beginning, but it quickly becomes very happy fiddle and whistle music. Hell, my funeral'll be a ceili! KEGS ALL AROUND!)

Final Credits:
Paralyzer by Finger Eleven. (Now that's what I'm talking about! Gyrating black and white people in my credits! Hell yeah!)
